How to calculate determinant of 3x3 matrix (Rule of Sarrus) easy way math YouTube

Can Sarrus' method of finding the determinant be used for finding the determinant of matrices greater than $3\times3$, as I am unable to find any example of a matrix greater than $3\times3$ whose determinant is found by Sarrus' method?. I have tried many questions and Sarrus' method only works for $2\times2$ and $3\times3$ matrices. I have not read about Sarrus' method in any book but only.

This is our definition of the determinant of a 3 by 3 matrix. And the motivation is, because when you take the determinant of a 3 by 3 it turns out-- I haven't shown it to you yet-- that the property is the same. That if the determinant of this is 0, you will not be able to find an inverse.

rule of Sarrus. with three rows, it is comfortable to use the rule of Sarrus (invented 1833 by the French mathematician P. F. Sarrus). The rule comprises that first one writes the two first columns of the determinant on the of the determinant (seeing thus a 3×5 3 × 5 matrix!): Here one sums the products on all lines parallel to the main.

For a 3x3 matrix the determinat can be calculated with the Sarrus rule. The Sarrus rule uses the diagonals for the calculation. The calculator shows the calculation steps. For illustration the elements of the main diagonals are colored in green and the elements of the secondary diagonals are colored in blue.

Rule of Sarrus: The determinant of the three columns on the left is the sum of the products along the down-right diagonals minus the sum of the products along the up-right diagonals. In matrix theory, the Rule of Sarrus is a mnemonic device for computing the determinant of a matrix named after the French mathematician Pierre Frédéric Sarrus. [1]

I know that the determinant of this matrix: $ \begin{bmatrix} 2-\lambda & -1 & 1\\1& 5-\lambda & -2 \\ 0 & 1 & 2-\lambda \end{bmatrix} $ is $(3-\lambda)^3$ by simply computing the determinant (using Sarrus method), but I want to know if I can compute this determinant faster, by doing some operations with the rows and columns.
